Hello again

It is you I'm looking for.

If all the tubes and wires of the internet operated as they should have, you received this email with no hiccups whatsoever and are gazing in wonder at the new, Nazi-free platform I've moved to (it's called Ghost). I'm already liking it much better, and have additional plans afoot for premium content. (Spoiler: you'll see some of it Wednesday).

BUT if you did experience any hiccups, or coughs or spasms or tics, please make an appointment with a medical professional and we can talk about newsletters later.

On to the recs!

🎥 Odds Against Tomorrow (Pluto)
Razor-sharp dialogue in a noir-ish heist tale set against priceless scenes of 50s-era Manhattan—and it stars Harry Belafonte. This is absolutely an under-rated gem, worth suffering through the commercials on Pluto.

📺 PEN15 (Hulu)
There are a few shows that have accurately captured the deep cringing shame of being an adolescent: Freaks & Geeks, The Wonder Years, and Big Mouth come to mind. But when it comes to the specific hell of being a 13-year-old girl, PEN15 is unmatched. Written by its stars, who somehow manage to inhabit their roles despite being grown-ass women, this show will have you roaring with laughter one minute, then hiding your face in your shirt in shared mortification the next.

🎶 First Timers
During lunch a few months ago, a coworker told us that she doesn't listen to music. Like, it's just not a part of her life. This piece of information shook me, as I have been listening to something from sun-up to sundown since I was a wee lass. So I offered to make her a playlist. This proved to be harder than I thought it would be. What song would you parry with after hearing this fact? I've made an attempt at a playlist and would love your additions.

Seriously if you had any weirdness occur with the new platform, shoot me a note. And look for a preview of new premium content, Smart Things, on Wednesday!

Stay warm. xoxo
