This and that

Good morning. My recs are weird this week because:

I finished Hacks and already told you how good it is. The last episode of season 3 is a great cliffhanger!

I finished The Bear and did not love it. Not a single goddamned thing happened this season. Well, Nat had her baby and that was a good episode but otherwise... Get it together Carmy! And call Claire Bear.

I saw the supposedly scary Longlegs and was sorely disappointed. It's not even remotely scary and Nicholas Cage's makeup was real bad.

I'm in the middle of a bunch of books I'm not ready to tell you about yet.

So. Here's a good article about the Emmy nominations, which includes many shows I have not watched and plan to. Then why don't you check out Slums of Beverly Hills, a movie I rewatched this week and was reminded how delightful and good it is. Natasha Lyonne, Alan Arkin, Marisa Freaking Tomei. You'll love it.

And then I rewatched Muriel's Wedding (tis the season of the rewatch) and was reminded of how good - though slightly more depressing - it is. Though it did plant Abba songs in my head for several days.

The Olympics open this Friday and, as incongruous as it may seem, I LOVE the Olympics. I will watch the entire opening ceremonies and as many random and non-random competitions as I can. Maybe I'll do a special Olympic recap next weekend. I know you'll await that with bated breath.
