Things to stare at

I've been staring at this blank space for 20 minutes trying to think of an intro, but only doom and gloom come to mind so I'm just going to make some recs. I saved a news item for the bottom.

šŸŽ„ Sinners (in theaters)
A very fun, very funny, very sexy vampire movie set in the deep south in the 1930s. And Michael B. Jordan plays twins so you get more of him. There is a scene midway through, when the dancing reaches a fever pitch and the floor is thumping underneath you, that will make you almost tear up with joy at being a human who can experience art.

šŸ“ŗ Planet Earth III (Max)
In these trying times, sometimes you just need to zen out on your couch and watch animals do their thing. The photography only gets more mind-blowing with every iteration of this series, to the point that I briefly considered buying a bigger TV. In the second episode, Oceans, David Attenborough goes a full 15 minutes before speaking, instead letting you be absorbed by the sounds of life underwater. This is great TV, man.

šŸ“– Rememberings
Oh Sinead. This is a painful yet enlightening read; you will understand her far better when it's done. She was a fascinating, maddening human who never apologized for being either. Her tale of dinner at Prince's house is a doozy, and the blowback she suffered for the Pope incident is pretty stunning. All in all, it's about as true to a person's voice as I've ever read. I hope you've found some peace, ma'am.

Hey, did you hear about the lawyer who had plain-clothes cops cut his wifi and try to come into his house? You should read about it.

Courage to us all,
Carla
