Still using too many adverbs

Still using too many adverbs

I have seen mention in several articles that Trump is falling asleep during his trial and farting in his sleep, which is completely disgusting but also provides further evidence that he is a literal bag of trash. I don't really have anything more to say about that. Just wanted to share it with you.

Recs!

📺 Alex Edelman: Just for Us (Max)
There are very few people that I want to listen to for 2 hours, but this guy is so funny and unique and smart that I was genuinely sad when it was over. It's a standup act, but one that has an incredibly compelling story weaving throughout, about the time he (a very Jewish man) went to a white nationalist meeting in Queens. You will laugh your ass off. And also possibly develop a crush on him.

🎥 Language Lessons (Max)
This is a little gem from the pandemic that grabbed my cold stone heart and gave it a massive hug. I'll spoil it if I explain too much so just queue it up the next time you need to feel good about being a human.

📖 Prophet Song
At the complete opposite end of the spectrum is this book, which won The Booker Prize last year, and I understood why immediately—the prose is beauuuutiful. Look at this:

"she sees how happiness hides in the humdrum, how it abides in the everyday toing and froing as though happiness were a thing that should not be seen, as though it were a note that cannot be heard until it sounds from the past."

It's a unique style, to be sure, and will take you a bit to get used to. The story is intense and only grows more so, and you'll likely find yourself cursing the decisions the main character makes. But the family at the center of it will live inside you for quite a while.

Also, in other news about bags of trash, Chris Pratt tore down a historic mid-century landmark to build a "modern farmhouse," or as my friend Autumn called it, "the MAGA of architecture." You're a tool, Chris Pratt.

You guys, though, are beautiful. Give yourselves big hugs.

xoxo
