Make love not war

Last weekend I made the mistake of watching several of the Oscar nominated documentary shorts in one afternoon, something I do not recommend at all. Over the course of 90 minutes, I watched: a saint of a woman manage one day in the life of a Georgia abortion clinic; the murder of a world-renowned war photographer by Russian troops in Ukraine; and a CBS News (RIP) reporter travel the country to photograph rooms of children killed in school shootings. Can we get some documentaries in production about puppies or something? They're all wonderful films. Just maybe space 'em out.

🎥 Song Sung Blue (Peacock)
This is not what you think it's going to be! Whoever put the trailer together is very bad at their job. The true story of a Canadian couple in a Neil Diamond tribute band, this is one of those movies that easily could have flopped with the wrong actors. But Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson went for broke and it shows. Also, who knew she could sing?

📺 The Traitors (Peacock)
Now that the Olympics are over, you need to find something that uses up the rest of your Peacock trial. And the latest season of Traitors is it. Come for Alan Cumming's outfits, stay for the player who might go down as the greatest traitor in the show's history. This was an absolutely stellar season, and you will have lots of fun watching.

📖 I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself
I have read 3 novels in the past 2 weeks. (I'm trying to pick up my Kindle instead of my phone when I want distraction and it's kinda working) and this was my favorite. It's dystopian in one sense - instead of prison, people who screw up are given a second shadow as a reminder of their crime. It sounds weird, I know, but won't take you long to get into and there is a delightful child in the center of it.

Hope you're holding up okay in the middle of all this.

xoxo,
Carla
