Happy Spring

I didn't write last weekend because I had to travel for work. I was in Southern California for approximately one hot minute and was reminded of how magical the air is. Especially in the morning, California air feels clean and sparkly, like laundry snapping on a line or your teeth right after you brush them. I might need to move back there just for the air. (Their government is nice too, generally speaking.) Next week, I'm going to Indiana for work. What's the air like in Indiana?

📺 Chris Fleming: Live at the Palace (HBO)
You have never seen a stand-up performance quite like this one. Fleming is manically physical in his delivery — at times, you might compare him to a flea bouncing around the stage. But he's also hilarious and his bit about Lin Manuel-Miranda had me in tears. You know you need a laugh right now. Check it out.

🎥 Before I Disappear (Tubi)
A man attempts suicide multiple times, only to be thwarted repeatedly by his sister needing a babysitter. A darkly funny, unique take on the gruff-guy/cute-kid trope, this also has a comforting, positive message about loneliness. And Ron Perlman's in it!

📖 Oryx and Crake
This dystopian series from Margaret Atwood (no, not that one) somehow escaped my notice until recently, and I'm enjoying it so much I'm already on the second one. It's a little too smart for itself at times, but in our current idiocracy, I'm just fine with that.
