Cinerama

Y'all I have watched some movies this week. And you haven't heard of a single one of them. Let's get into it.

Ms. 45 (Peacock and Tubi)
My fellow females, the next time you get harassed on the street or ogled by an icky man, queue this one up. It's ninety minutes of shitty men getting what’s coming to them. Well ok, the first 15 minutes are a little upsetting but hang in there. This is a brilliant statement on gender in America—the fact that the main character is mute speaks volumes in itself.

The Rover (Pluto and Tubi)
I think one of the most delightful transformations in Hollywood this century has been that of Robert Pattinson. Who would've thought that dude from Twilight would turn out to be a phenomenal actor? He pulls it off again as sidekick to Guy Pearce in this apocalyptic road-trip neo-western. What turns out to be in the car he's been chasing the whole time is… interesting. I’m not sure they give it enough build-up to make it land, but it’s a great movie nonetheless. Watch it and let me know what you think!

Patti Smith: Dream of Life (Prime rent/buy)
As mentioned last week I am in the middle of a life transformation, actively working to find my bliss while also paying for groceries and phones and college. Can both things be true at the same time? I'm about to find out. There are perhaps few people on earth who've lived as true to themselves as Patti Smith, and this film is as pure and magical as a piece of celluloid can be. It's technically a documentary but one that will transport your mind and pierce your soul. And no, I was not high when I watched it. It's $10 to buy on Amazon, which I am going to do so I can watch it over and over.

The Sharp Skirts website is so close to ready, and I'm going to be launching a newsletter for it too. It will be a weekly-ish round-up of inspiring women who are using their voices to do all manner of things. Get on the list to be one of the cool kids.

Go forth and shine this week, my friends.

xoxo,
Carla
